It is important because communities are being exposed to toxic and hazardous waste. By being exposed to harmful waste it causes serious health problems such as cancer, respitory issues, and much more. Nobody should have to face the negative consequences from industrial, municipal, and commercial operations. By advocating for environmental laws and regulations to be passed change could happen sooner.

On April 25th, 2014 the water supply in Flint, Michigan disconnected from Detroit's water supply and switched to Flint River to save money.
